Yammers original music responds to questions like: Would it be good to be married to Vincent Van Gogh? Why does love appear at Shopko, but not the organic section of the co-op? Is it better for frogs to live in anarchy or under a despot? Can a song be sung entirely in palindromes? What is the only human sense that regenerates? What makes Blaine, Missouri special? An evening with Yammer will give you the answers. Chimeric, eclectic, charismatic, dance-o-matic. Yammer.
Yammer is: Kia Karlen (bass, French horn, vocals) is a classically trained hornist who currently plays with the Madison Brass and the Capital City Band. Working with the Wisconsin Alliance for Composers she has founded three new music ensembles, most recently Emergo Productions, whose Sound Off! show played to critical acclaim last fall. She once toured Scandinavia playing horn in an avant-garde Danish opera while wearing a giant paper mache boar's head and a purple robe. Her turnoffs include negative people and tomatoes. Jonathan Zarov (guitar, vocals) writes and sings most of the Yammers songs. He spent many years fronting Swamp Thing, a popular 80s Madison band that toured nationally and received favorable reviews in People magazine, New Music Express and elsewhere. He hosts WORT 89.9 FM's 8 O'clock Buzz news and entertainment show every Friday morning, 8 to 9 am. His turnons include Boggle and palindromes. Biff Uranus Blumfumgagnge (drum kit, violin, vocals) has played two world tours with Adrian Belew, as well as stints with the Willy Porter Band, Honor Among Thieves, Fuzzy Logic, Elizabeth Schafer, Headpump, Killbilly and Bradley Fish. Biff can also be seen with the Reptile Palace Orchestra , Green Lime Dog and the Gomers ... But the 1998 Best Instrumentalist - Strings WAMI award winner throws it all away to drum and sing for Yammer.
